The music video
is an art form.

The Music Video Foundation archives, preserves, and promotes the music video — one of the most vital creative formats of the last half-century. We digitize endangered tapes, build a lasting public archive, and champion the directors, artists, and crews who made them.

Three pillars.
One purpose.

About MVF →

01  —  Archive

Building a permanent public record

We collect, catalog, and digitize music video recordings — from broadcast masters to VHS home recordings — and make them freely accessible to researchers, fans, and future generations.

02  —  Preserve

Saving what's at risk of being lost

Magnetic tape degrades. Formats become obsolete. Our preservation lab digitizes endangered recordings before they disappear, working with estates, labels, broadcasters, and individual collectors.

03  —  Promote

Advocating for the form

Through screenings, publications, and partnerships, we argue for the music video's place in cultural history — and connect audiences to the artists and directors who defined it.

Help us save
what's disappearing.

Magnetic tape doesn't last forever. Every donation funds digitization equipment, tape acquisition, and the preservation of music videos that would otherwise be lost. The Music Video Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — your donation is tax-deductible.
